Health Care Reimbursement
Challenge: Healthcare reimbursements for individual claims in the Purdue litigation were so large that individual claimants were at risk of not accepting the deal put forth in the bankruptcy court.
Recognizing that individuals who are addicted to opioids are usually taking more than one brand of drug, Nordstrom and Company worked with the leadership of the litigation, the bankruptcy trustee, Medicare, Medicaid, and the 3rd party payers to draft a program where each of the patients could use a smaller portion of multiple settlements from the various manufacturers in combination to satisfy the health care reimbursements so that the victims could keep a larger portion of the settlement.
